The splendid fairywren is a passerine bird in the Australasian wren family, Maluridae. It also known simply as the splendid wren or more colloquially in Western Australia as the blue wren.
 
When I was a child seeing a Blue Wren in parts of the South West was a magical experience, they seemed like mystical creatures, so tiny but so bright, with those irridescent blue feathers. The wattle and Wren Beret is a gorgeous hat that would look stunning with a yellow spring dress.
